Commencing with Phase 1 of their renovation project, the new homeowners were intent on elevating the front appearance of their property to an impeccable standard. They were met with a challenge, however; a previous owner had built an old porch infill, ostensibly to keep out the elements and provide a space for wet and muddy footwear. Yet, this design decision detracted from the property’s overall aesthetic appeal.
Determined to enhance the curb appeal, the new owner decided to undertake double glazing installations. Their vision was clear – they wanted to remove the existing door and windows and upgrade the bay windows and front bedroom with top-tier, A-rated uPVC windows finished in a pristine smooth white. Our consultations with the client allowed us to explore various design options, including flush casement windows and a harmonious look with dummy openers. A pivotal design change was the replacement of the traditional flat capping board above the upstairs bay window with a more ornate Ogee fascia board, which seamlessly complements the property’s aesthetic.
Moreover, as the interior walls are in the process of being plastered, we took the initiative to replace all old, warped, and misaligned window boards and architraves. This ensures a fresh and even canvas, ready for the final touches of decorating.
